Black is back - but where's the RAZR sleekness?

Just by looking at two of our recent articles "Gadget Porn: N80" and "Live shots of the Nokia 6233", you'll realise that Nokia has decided that black is back, in a big way.

We're not quite sure what spawned the revolution (for years black Nokia handsets have been rare) but recently there have been more than a few. The first was probably the Nokia 6230 - which in the UK came in a "graphite edition", after which came the Nokia 6030, (the 6230i wasn't fully black) then these two recently announced devices.

That's well and good - but where's the other thing which made the iPod Nano such a raving success - the sleek?

Look at how pretty the SLVR is (pictured right).

The thing is - the SLVR will probably not be enough for Motorola to take the lead in the market - because it's UI, incredibly after all these years, still sucks comparatively. We don't know what the holdup is - perhaps it's a patent (or not - SE's interface is fine). And we hope the new SLVR doesn't have the stinky keypad issue.

But we think Nokia should really try to address that market segment - they seem to have almost everything else covered... [yes, the Nokia E61 is supposed to be slim at 14mm, but it's otherwise HUGE. For reference, the SLVR is 11mm and the RAZR is 14mm.]
