We were really happy when firefox 1.0 was released, mainly because tabbed browsing makes so much sense. Using it has also been quite a breeze, and it has since been downloaded just about 15 million times, but there are several things to be aware of.
First, the default security settings aren't very good, and it is possible you may be forced to download extensions from wierd sites. Read this by Peter Torr.
Second, there are slight differences to internet explorer, and if you want detail, you could read this beginners guide by
Anders Conbere.
Third, you should perform the "speed up hack" first seen at forevergeek.com, while keeping in mind that making 30 requests at once is madness. Something like 4 is probably better.
Finally, if you've never done tabbed browsing before; what you do is you right click (or ctrl-click) a link, and it opens in the same window, but a different tab. This allows you to keep reading. Even better, with any number of tabbed windows open, you can press ctrl-D, select 'bookmark all tabs in a folder", and when you want to look at all those sites again, just select the folder and click (or right-click) that folder and "open in tabs." It doesn't sound like much, but...
Perhaps in a couple of years minimo will be similarly impressive for symbian devices.
[oh, and yes yes, not phone related, but our server has been cranky. Contemplating a change, and hence distracted.]
