We really like SoonR. Here's what Om Malik says about them:
"SoonR’s technology allows users to access their Windows PCs and run Google’s desktop search tool wirelessly. They can read documents, reply to Microsoft Outlook e-mail, look at photographs, and even share them with others. All that’s required is a phone with a built-in browser."
That's true, but that's just a usage scenario. What SoonR's technology really is is simply the first bit - it makes google desktop searches accessible from anywhere; and that is excellent.
Amongst other things, that means that you will have access to outlook's calendar, and e-mail functionality - on ANY phone. Sure, you will need a high speed connection via your phone, and it is probably still better to have on-phone information, but this is extremely cool. Even RAZR's might actually become somewhat usable!
Also note that this functionality also means that basically any computer can be the search target - all that is required is installation of the SoonR client - so you will have access to all your files, all the time, from any internet-connected device which can browse the internet. A single SoonR account can also be used to search multiple computers.
(We just hope they've put serious security measures into place.)
