Mobile Music Premieres and Recipes

Posted On: Mon, 21/11/2005 - 15:14 by Alex

This is just a heads up on two new mobile content offerings on 3G networks in the UK. You can download exclusive music videos (£1.50) and Jamie Oliver cooking clips (75p) and recipes (75p).

Seems like the industry thinks that £1.50 is the magic figure. Wonder why. Both of these are good ideas. Our opinion is that music video exclusives are nice, because they have no negative impact upon the producers of those music videos; and that recipes are appropriate for distribution in this fashion. (Historical note: recipes were part of the marketing efforts for early computers!) Carlo Longino thinks that the recipes could do with sponsorship, and he's right - but surely Vodafone did make an effort?

Anyhow, this quote from the Guardian is also worth repeating: "The trend for showing music videos first on mobile phones was kickstarted last year by EMI's Robbie Williams, who made the promo for Misunderstood available to 3 customers."

whoopee.
