Sony Ericsson yesterday released the followup to the enormously popular S700i, in the form of the W900i, the second Sony Walkman branded mobile phone. It also announced that a third and fourth (W550 and W600) Sony Walkman branded mobile phones would be released - one specifically for the US market.
The W900i keeps the 2 Megapixel camera and colour scheme from the Sony Ericsson W800, but adds an atractive swivel design, compatibility with 3G phone networks, and a black colour option.
While Sony has said that this phone will support on-the-go music downloads, it appears that UTMS support will be in the 2100 Mhz range, meaning that the Cingular customers will get no love.
Sony Ericsson also announced a bevy of audio accessories for it's products, including a speaker system and an FM radio transmitter.
While this is the second 3G music-targetted phone announced, it might ship first, as it has expected ship date of end Q4 2005, while the Nokia N91 smartphone is expected only in Q1 2006.
