This post does not impact upon the site's "targeted audience" in any way, but it's too entertaining to pass up. US/Australia World of Warcraft is currently running a competition where 100 people will win a nVidia Geforce 6800 Ultra. This is a very nice video card. You are automatically entered if you are playing WoW and you kill someone in-game, and you get extra "chances" if you kill very many people in game. However, because of certain US laws, you don't have to play to participate. Simply:
(1) Be(come) a resident of the United Stated, Canada (excluding Quebec), Australia, or New Zealand.
(2) Send a 3 1/2" x 5" postcard that includes your name, mailing address, e-mail address and age to: World of Warcraft PvP Honor System Contest (3) The postmark must be no later than May 24, 2005 and the card must be received by Sponsor by June 8, 2005.
The maximum number of postcards worth sending is 140. This will give you 140*50 = 7000 chances, and that number of chances are virtually impossible to achieve in-game; because it will require the person to become the top 1% of PvP winners with 5 different characters on 5 servers. You may get less chances than this, but you will always have as much chance as the player with the most chances. Hmm. Perhaps you should send only about 30 postcards. (Do that math yourself) What's my motivation for posting this, you ask? Well: let me refer you to a comment made by Jedi of Myth on the Arstechnica forums: "Then if I win, I will post a pic of me on the WoW PvP forum holding my new Geforce6800 and describe how much better the graphics are when I RP my lvl 5 Nightelf in Goldshire Inn. Then I will sit back and watch the 13yo 1337 d00ds' heads explode with rage." PLEASE do that if you win. Also, World of Warcraft is a great game, and 300 more people will receive a free month of play. Read the official rules here.
