The Nokia 8800 comes in a nice black box, as pictured above, and ships with a little more than the standard accessories. Apart from the charger (which as expected is compatible with virtually every other Nokia phone) the phone also ships with an extra battery, a headset, a stand, and a cloth case. The headset and the stand are styled similarly to the Nokia 8800: both are encased in stainless steel.
As you will have noticed, the desk stand illuminates itself with a blue LED. While I think a white light is preferable, the blue light is not too piercing, and it "breathes" just like the LED of a sleeping Apple iBook or Powerbook - the blue light gradually becomes brighter, then darker, in a continuous flow.
This "breathing" effect occurs at most times, except where an inserted spare battery is not fully charged. This is excellent as a first impression; but it is good that Nokia has included a button on the rear of the stand which allows the light to be permanently switched off.
Both the headset and the stand are very solidly built; their stainless steel coverings almost seem to be precision crafted. It is also interesting to note that the wires of the headset are encased in a cloth-like material. This is a nice touch.
