Vizzion, Inc. has released a new product - Traffic Vizzion. This allows you tap into all those traffic cameras located on highways and view the images on your cell phone, all for the price of $5.00/month.
Unfortunately, only Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphones are compatible, and it is only available in certain regions of the US and Canada.
The second limitation is not really a big deal, since limitations like that are expected, but the first limitation seems strange - hopefully at least all windows mobile devices will be supported soon. [Ed: And while you're at it, please make your website more compatible with Opera and Firefox.]
However, in general, this does not really help - unless you're a control freak. What we're really interested in is the integration of information flow from traffic monitoring services with GPS navigation systems. After all, commuters are (likely) not particularly interested in what the traffic looks like - they just want to know the quickest route to a particular destination. This would also result in a maximization of the usability of existing transportation infrastructure. Of course, this also assumes that fuzzy logic works well - so maybe being a control freak and watching the traffic on the roads you know you'll pass is better?
