New Prototype N-Series handset

UPDATE 18/11/05: We have more pictures of the prototype here. The most interesting thing about them are the buttons and D-pad on one side, next to the shutter release. They don't control optical zoom, since the ring around the shutter release should control that - so what are they for? They will be accessible when the device is closed, but for the most part that is pointless because those buttons will be easily usable only with a thumb. Maybe the answer is simple, and the d-pad/buttons are there to allow pictures to be reviewed easily in landscape mode.

Courtesy of a random french blog, we have pictures of what appears to be an unreleased Nokia prototype. http://hightechworld.blogspot.com/ said that he was privileged yesterday to look at new handsets released by Nokia - unfortunately his memory was not too good, and he identified the handset above as the Nokia N92.

We're currently liasing with our french operatives *wink*wink* to get more information, but basically the only real information (it's printed on the phone) we have is that the handset will have a 3 Megapixel camera, with 3x Optical Zoom and a Carl Zeiss lens. This puts it into N9* territory - it's the obvious replacement for the Nokia N90.

We also observe that it has dual cameras, which indicates 3G support, and if history is anything to go by this will also be a Symbian S60 device. It is tempting to think that based on the resemblence to the N92 that this will probably also have it's mobile TV capabilities, and huge 2.8" screen; but notice the lack of forward/rewind buttons as on the N92.

Ed: There is no guarantee that this phone will be released, but the fact that it was presumably displayed to the public either means that someone is going to be in trouble, or that the announcement is going to happen any second now.
